Message from the Organiser

WEMDCD has now set the tradition of an international workshop where up-to-date research activities in electrical machines and drives are presented. A key characteristic of previous WEMDCD conferences has been an increasingly strong industrial participation, which allows for enhanced exchanges between academia and industry. WEMDCD 2019 organized in the National Technical University of Athens will offer excellent opportunities for participants to share knowledge and experience enhancing the cross-fertilization of new ideas and developments in this field.

Historically, Athens constitutes the cradle of modern civilization, with monuments indicating its long standing contribution to intelligence and arts, including the emblematic monument of Acropolis, dated from 5th century BC, radiating the capital’s early prosperity and elegance, a must visit. Important museums, marking the area florescence and cultural creativity, should not be missed, such as Acropolis Museum, the National Archaeological Museum, the Byzantine and Christian Museum, the Museum of Cycladic Art, the Benaki Museum. Today Athens is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city, with restaurants, shops and many places to visit including the city Cathedral and Monastiraki old-market district.  Athens enables equally short escapes from the busy city, through one-day cruises to neighboring picturesque islands in the Saronic Gulf.

Athens is located in south-eastern border of Europe with excellent travel connections. Athens International Airport has direct links to all big cities and fluent public transportation including underground connection to the city center.

We invite you to come to Athens, to explore and enjoy a truly remarkable, hospitable city. Athens - a splendid city that offers an excellent environment to the meeting and exchanging of ideas at the unique, international event of WEMDCD 2019.
